FAQ

Who is the offer in the "CLIMB" category suitable for?

Our Climb offers are aimed at anyone who wants to explore alpine terrain - whether you are planning your first alpine tour, want to feel rock under your fingers for the first time or want to improve your technical skills. Both beginners and ambitious alpinists will find suitable tours and courses with us.

Do I need previous alpine experience to book the CLIMB offers?

Not necessarily. Many of our offers are designed so that you can start without any previous experience - for example on the Breithorn, in a beginner's climbing course or on a guided half-day tour on the rock. The important thing is that you are open to new things and enjoy being active in the mountains. For more demanding tours, we give clear instructions on the experience required.

How do I find out whether a tour suits my ability?

All tours are provided with information on the level of difficulty, stamina and technical requirements. This gives you a good idea of whether a tour is suitable for you. If you are not sure, we will be happy to advise you personally - it is best to come to our home base with an overview of your previous tours or mountain experience.

What if I don't meet the requirements on the road?

Our mountain guides have a lot of experience and decide on the spot whether a tour can be carried out as planned. If your safety or the course of the tour is at risk, you may skip a stage or abort the tour - always in the interests of the whole group. With a private mountain guide, you are more flexible and can adjust the pace and route individually.

What is the advantage of a ZERMATTERS mountain guide?

Our mountain guides are locally based, UIAGM-certified and know the Zermatt mountains inside out. They not only bring safety and experience with them, but also stories, insider knowledge and a great deal of enthusiasm for the mountains - this makes every tour with them a real experience.

What happens in bad weather or unsafe conditions?

Safety is always our top priority. If a tour cannot take place as planned due to weather, avalanche conditions or other factors, we will inform you in good time. We will work with you to find a suitable alternative - there are often "Plan B" options in Zermatt too.

Can I also get specific training?

Yes! In our training courses you will learn everything you need for independent alpine activities - from belaying in the climbing garden and crevasse rescue to tour planning with maps and meteorology. Ideal for anyone who wants to be out and about independently or wants to develop their skills further.

Can I also book tours spontaneously on site?

Basically yes - especially for simple private tours or 1-day excursions, something is often possible at short notice. The earlier you book, the better we can take your wishes into account and find the right guide for you. However, in the high season and for popular tours with overnight stays in huts (e.g. Matterhorn or Monte Rosa tour), we recommend booking early to ensure that your preferred date works out.
