Description

Telemark lessons start directly in the ski area - either on Sunnegga or on Riffelberg. The course is available both in the morning and in the afternoon. After a brief discussion about your previous knowledge and goals, you'll get started: you'll learn or refine the typical telemark technique with free heel - dynamic, elegant and controlled.

Our coaches will show you step by step what is important: clean turns, body tension, balance and rhythm. Depending on your progress, the terrain can also be included to create new stimuli.

FAQ

What is the difference between telemark and classic skiing?

When telemarking, the heel is not fixed, which enables more dynamic, deeper turns. It is technically more demanding, but also particularly elegant and powerful.

Who are telemark lessons suitable for?

The lessons are ideal for sporty beginners with a solid skiing foundation as well as advanced skiers who want to improve their technique or immerse themselves in the telemark style.

Do I need previous knowledge of telemarking?

No - you can also start without telemark experience. However, a good basic technique on skis (e.g. parallel turns) is an advantage.

Is the equipment provided by Zermatters?

No, you must bring your own telemark equipment (skis, boots, poles) or hire it from a sports store in Zermatt. We will be happy to advise you.

Do the lessons take place on the piste or off-piste?

Depending on your level and wishes, we ski on the piste or off-piste. For beginners, lessons usually start on easy slopes.

How long does a lesson last?

The duration can be chosen flexibly. Half or full days are common - individually tailored to your ability and goals.

Are the lessons also suitable for children?

Basically yes - if they are already confident skiers and have sufficient strength and coordination. We recommend Telemark from approx. 10-12 years.

Can I also book Telemark lessons privately?

Yes, Telemark lessons are only offered as private lessons. This allows us to cater to your individual level and goals.

How fit do I need to be for Telemark?

Telemark skiing requires more balance and leg muscles than classic skiing. A good basic level of fitness is recommended - especially for longer units or off-piste skiing.

Do you also hone your technique in class?

Yes - we attach great importance to proper technique. Step by step, you will learn how to ride corners smoothly and safely - from the basic position to line selection.

In which languages are the lessons offered?

Our Telemark instructors speak several languages - including German, English and French. Specify your preferred language when booking.
