FAQ

Do I need previous knowledge for the ski offers?

No - you are also in good hands with us as a beginner. Many of our courses (e.g. Snowli, private lessons or taster ski tours) are explicitly aimed at beginners. If you already have experience, we also offer advanced groups, technique training or challenging tours - our offers cover the whole range. Whether you are making your first tracks in the snow or already mastering steep slopes - we have a ski instructor who is perfectly suited to your ability!

How do I find the right offer for my level?

All our courses and tours are described according to age and technique level. This allows you to assess what suits you - whether you're a child, adult, returning skier or expert. If you are unsure, we will be happy to help you make your choice - in person on site or by phone.

What is the difference between private lessons and group courses?

Private lessons are ideal if you want to learn individually or improve your skills at your own pace. Group courses offer a sociable experience and are particularly popular with children. Our groups are deliberately kept small so that you receive the best possible support.

What can my child expect in the Snowli or Snow League program?

Our children's group offers are specially tailored to children aged around 4 to 14 years - with lots of games, exercise and fun in the snow. The focus is on the joy of skiing, combined with age-appropriate learning and safe supervision by our trained children's ski instructors.

Snowli Village
The Snowli Village is the perfect introduction for the little ones (approx. 4-6 years) who are skiing for the very first time. In a sheltered, clearly laid out area with a magic carpet and colorful figures, children learn the basic movements on snow in a playful way in small groups. From there, they slowly get used to skiing on the slopes and learn how to move independently on the slopes in the Riffelberg area. Snowli, our snow bunny, accompanies them as a mascot and motivator. It's all about sliding, braking and first turns - without pressure, but with lots of fun.

Snow League
For children aged 6 and over who have already had their first experience on skis, the Snow League continues. In different ability levels (blue, red, black) they improve their technique, turns, speed and feel for the terrain. The focus is on safe skiing on easy to moderately difficult slopes, with playful elements, courses and small races also included. The aim is to build up self-confidence and promote the enjoyment of skiing in the long term. The highlight of the week is the race on Friday! The children usually ski in the Riffelberg area for the Blue League and Sunnegga for the Red and Black Leagues.

What is the difference between freeriding and ski touring?

Freeriding takes you off-piste, often with the support of lifts - perfect for anyone who loves untracked powder.
When ski touring, you ascend independently with skins and experience the silence and beauty of the mountains far away from the hustle and bustle of the pistes.

You don't need any previous alpine experience for either - our ski instructors and mountain guides will accompany you step by step. In our taster courses, you will learn the necessary basics, gain confidence in handling the equipment and discover which discipline suits you best.

How does heliskiing work at ZERMATTERS?

With heliskiing, Air Zermatt takes you by helicopter directly into the untouched high mountain landscape. After landing, a ZERMATTERS mountain guide accompanies you safely through fantastic deep-snow descents. Zermatt offers some of the most spectacular heliski peaks in the Alps - a real highlight for experienced skiers.

Can I also ski in summer?

Yes! Skiing is possible almost all year round in Zermatt - thanks to the Theodul Glacier. In summer we offer private ski and snowboard lessons. Perfect for training camps, technique improvement or simply as a special change of pace.

What is "Beyond Ski & Board"?

This area is all about offers that go beyond traditional ski school lessons - for anyone who wants more than just turns on the piste.

CARV Pro & First Try offer you digital technique training with real-time feedback directly on the ski - ideal for anyone who wants to hone their skiing style.

With Freestyle Ski & Board, you can bring tricks and style to the snowpark or backcountry terrain - playfully, creatively and with professional guidance.

And if you fancy something new, cross-country skiing and telemark skiing offer two exciting alternatives with a focus on technique, endurance and a sense of rhythm - perfect as a supplement or a completely new challenge in the snow.

What happens in bad weather or difficult conditions?

Bad weather, poor visibility or difficult snow conditions? These are exactly the kind of conditions that shape real skiers. Or as they say in freeride: "Good skiers are not made in the sunshine, but in bad conditions."
Nevertheless, we always put safety first. Our guides and ski instructors keep a constant eye on the weather and snow situation. In the event of storms, avalanche danger or unsafe conditions, we adapt the program flexibly or suggest a suitable alternative if possible - so that your day in the mountains is safe, meaningful and unforgettable.

Can I book spontaneously or do I need a reservation?

Short-term bookings (ideally until the evening before) are often possible - especially for private lessons. In the high season (December-March), however, we recommend booking early, as our places fill up quickly. Advance booking is always advisable for group courses and children's programs.
