Highlights
Description
The SMT1 avalanche course is your introduction to the world of alpine safety. In the morning, you meet up with your group or mountain guide at the ZERMATTERS home base, where the equipment and basics are introduced. Afterwards, you will head out into the Zermatt ski area to a practice location chosen according to the conditions.
In the terrain, you will practise using avalanche transceivers, shovels and probes and learn how to interpret avalanche bulletins correctly. Together with your group, you will implement the 3x3 method, recognize typical avalanche situations and apply the "Safer Six" measures. Practical exercises for rescuing companions will prepare you for an emergency.
The course lasts around six hours and concludes with the Swiss Mountain Training 1 certificate - official proof of your avalanche training.
