Description
The Avalanche Course SMT 2 builds directly on the basic training and deepens your knowledge of safety and risk management in alpine terrain. Over two days of approximately six hours each, you will learn under the guidance of a ZERMATTERS mountain guide how to assess and manage avalanche risks effectively.
On the first day, you will review the key content from SMT 1, practice using the transceiver, shovel, and probe, interpret the avalanche bulletin, and plan your own tour. On the second day, you will put your knowledge into practice: deepening the 3×3 method, applying the graphical reduction method, evaluating risks, and carrying out realistic rescue scenarios.
The course concludes with the Swiss Mountain Training Winter 2 certificate, recognized by the Swiss Mountain Guide Association (SBV). Participation requires completion of Module 1 or equivalent experience, as well as confident skiing on red slopes.
