Description

The tour starts early in the morning with the Gornergratbahn from Zermatt to Rotenboden. From there, your guide will lead you along quiet paths into the area around the Riffelhorn and Riffelsee - ideal habitats for ibex and other alpine animals. During the approx. 4.5-hour hike, you will gain exciting insights into the behavior of the animals and the alpine flora. The route is easy and is adapted to the group.

Take the first train to Rotenboden

From there, we walk quietly towards the Monte Rosa hut so as not to scare off the ibex

Throughout the hike, we will try out the Swarovski Optik binoculars and keep an eye out for animals

As soon as it gets warmer, we may be lucky enough to see the marmots at play

We finish our hike at around 11:00 am at Rotenboden and return to Zermatt with unforgettable memories

When is the best time for game viewing?

Early in the morning, when nature awakens and the animals are active. Our tours therefore usually start before sunrise to offer the best opportunities for observations.

Which animals can I see?

With a bit of luck, you might spot ibex, chamois, deer, marmots and various bird species such as eagles or bearded vultures. Sightings vary depending on the season and weather conditions.

How challenging are the tours?

Our wildlife observation hikes are suitable for all age groups and require a basic level of fitness for easy to moderately difficult hikes. The routes are individually adapted to the group.

Is the tour suitable for children?

Yes, children aged 8 and over who are particularly interested in nature will enjoy our tours. The exciting animal observations and child-friendly explanations make the hike an experience for the whole family.

What should I bring with me?

We recommend clothing suitable for the weather, sturdy hiking boots, sun protection, plenty of water and possibly a small breakfast for on the way. We provide binoculars.
