The "monstrous coquette" according to Guy de Maupassant

Dent Blanche 4'357 m a.s.l.

(Rock Tour)

The Dent Blanche is a largely ice-free mountain peak in the Valais Alps. The language border between French and German in the Upper Valais runs across the Dent Blanche.

From the top of the mighty pyramid of the Dent Blanche, four ridges run exactly in the four main cardinal points. The ridge is not quite as steep to the south and gradually runs out into the Wandfluh ridge. The Dent Blanche, together with its eastern neighbouring peaks Ober Gabelhorn and Zinalrothorn, forms the southern end of the Val d'Anniviers.

The first ascent took place on 18 July 1862 by Thomas Stuart Kennedy, William and C. Wigram with the guides Jean-Baptiste Croz and Johann Kronig via the south ridge ("Wandfluh ridge").

We offer the tour from the Dent Blanche hut over the south ridge in Val d'Anniviers.

The ascent from the Schönbiel hut or through the 4-donkeys ridge is possible on request.

The ascent of the Dent Blanche is a demanding high altitude climb. Please inform us, when you book, which other 4’000 meters peaks you have climbed and what other alpine experience you have (Kilimanjaro and Mont-Blanc are not comparable to the Dent Blanche as they are not rock tours)

We strongly recommend a training climb with a mountain guide. The preparation tours can also be done in a group, as long as another person has registered for it
